Pierre Cardin: I design clothes what I admire the most, they belong to the styles of a future world.
Pierre Cardin was born in Italy, July 1922, his parents are both French. In 1930, when he was age 8, he designed clothing for dolls, for the girls in his neighborhood; in 1936, age 14 when he passed a tailor shop next to a park, he was attracted by the designed clothing that was placed in the shop. He entered the shop, and introduced himself hoping that he will be able to work in the shop. The shopkeeper was touched by his passion and spirit, allowing him to become a student in the shop.
After working there for 3 years, he went and worked for the Red Cross as an accountant. This job gave him an idea of running a business, a huge contribution toward building his clothing kingdom. At this moment, although Pierre’s living as stable, but he was not satisfied, he decided to learn from the designer, John Merlin. After 2 years he moved on to luxury clothing styles, and starts from there, while at the same time learning from Paquin-Schiaparelli, Dior and others. In 1994, Mr. Cardin left Dior and starts his own business.
From 1946, when he contacted the fashion world, Mr. Cardin always has new ideas which was always a hit and increased topics that talked about him. The bubble dresses from 1950, straight after it the plastic, nylon, sheet metal, which presented the ultra modern design. Pierre Cardin is full of ideas and unlimited creativity! This is why it made his ideas a little rebellious, enabled the couture to become ready-to-wear series, [Although at the time, my actions caused extreme shock too many designers, even antagonized them. But also because of this, now, majority of the people who has a normal living standard are able to enjoy this classic style, and is what I have hoped to see.]
Concurrently working as a designer, a director for make-up design, hotel management, ambassador for educational and cultural affairs for the United Nations, and academician for Francis school, theater management, and publishing company owner and many other roles, even as a playwright. Mr. Cardin liked which one of himself? He answered: I am deeply in love working as a designer! I can give up everything, but I can never give up being a designer.
We can see the passion that Mr. Cardin has for fashion, as well as working as a designer, even though he is and 80 year old elder, still filled with hope and spirits.
